CHOKED ON A PEANUT

I was two years old and didn`t know the shell should be removed
Fate had it in for me that day
I was at a birthday party
Sitting in a high chair next to a table where a bowl of peanuts stood
I grabbed a peanut
Put it in my mouth
and leveraging my foot against the table kicked myself over backwards
Guess which tube the peanut went down?
Not the esophagus
It went down the windpipe

I woke in a fright
It was the morning after and I was turning blue
My father held me upside down as the ambulance people wheeled in a stretcher
I was going for a ride
What a ride!
At the hospital my father raised and lower my hospital bed at my whim
What a ride!
An elevator bed

The definition of pnemonia is an infection that occurs in the lungs due to the presence of a foreign object
One helluva foreign object was this one
Two weeks it stayed
But while it stayed something very strange happened to me

Do you know how when you`re a kid, you get presents when you`re sick, I mean really sick?
Well, somebody had given me a chalkboard, chalk and eraser
One night I dream t that a goblin was chasing me
He took a bite out of my eraser
When I awoke from the dream, there was a bite out of the corner of my eraser
